Charles County resident Martika Savoy, of Marbury, couldn’t believe her luck when she realized she won a $100,000 windfall playing “FAST PLAY Winfall Doubler” at the Pisgah General Store in Indian Head.
The mother-of-three who is expecting her fourth child joked that “I thought I was going to have my baby on the floor.”
According to Savoy, she and her boyfriend are regular players of scratch-off and FAST PLAY games, though her habit had cooled off before she decided to take a chance and purchase a ticket on a whim.
“It was a spur of the moment decision,” she said. “So I said, ‘why not play today.”’
With her newfound cash, the grocery store manager said that some of her winnings will be used for a down payment on a home, though the rest hasn’t yet been earmarked for anything special.
Savoy also played coy, saying that she enjoys traveling and taking her kids to amusement parks, though her youngsters haven’t yet found out that she was a big Maryland Lottery winner yet.
“Some of the money will go to my babies and my bills.”
She’s not the only one feeling lucky after her win - the General Store on Poorhouse Road in Charles County will also get a $1,000 bonus for selling the wining ticket. There are still 19 unclaimed $100,000 “Winfall Doubler” tickets that have yet to be distributed or claimed.
